Blogging Hiatus, Again

Hello Everyone,

I’m just not in the mood for blogging right now. I’m struggling against a massive reading slump coming on and I want to focus on one thing at a time and that’s my tbr. I’m hoping to put at least a monthly tbr up by tonight or tomorrow then I’ll be busy offline. Sorry everyone.

🎵 Girls, Girls, Girls 🎵: All the Girls That Are On My TBR

Hello Everyone,

I have a lot of books on my tbr and I thought that I’d do a fun thing of “books with girls in the title”. This isn’t by all means all of them. It’s just a handful of them I thought I’d share. I’m not going to tag any descriptions for now as that would take ages. But here’s the books with “girls” in the title:

I have a few that I’m eager to get to and some that have been on my tbr for ages (Wilder Girls was an arc oops) and I know there’s loads more to find with ‘girls’ in the title. Do you recognize any of these? Let me know in the comments.

Blogging Idea: x5 the Increase of Posts

Hello Everyone,

I’m still working on my reading challenge for seven days of nonstop reading, but I’m also planning on posting on a more frequent basis. I’m working on upgrading my blog, delivering content that matters and hopefully gaining a hefty bit of followers, traffic, and more. I’m tired of my blog being stagnant and I really want to redesign and edit my old posts. It’s a slow work in progress that’s also very needed.

I’m hoping that this won’t annoy all of you in that I’m posting more frequently. I’m trying not to spam you guys but also I want to post more frequent reviews, articles, and so on. Suggestions in the comments would be great!

This is just a brief update as I take a minor break from reading. I’m almost done with my first book, and I’m looking forward to the next one.

Until next time,

Brief Hiatus Over: Apologies That I Was Gone a Bit!

Hello Everyone,

I’ve been gone most of this month and for that I apologize. I still somehow managed to get followers though so welcome new people! I hope you all enjoy my content and any suggestions you have that you’d like to see on my blog, please comment down below and I’ll see what I can do.

I left briefly because of all the things: heat wave in Missouri is awful, Roe Vs Wade being overturned, I was ill briefly (just a minor bug I still thankfully don’t have Covid), and stress. So. Much. Stress.

So I took a brief break, gathered a few new reviews that I hope to post soon, a few discussion posts, and some random other things too including my monthly wrap up and next month tbr!

I’m going to try to start posting once a day. I may post more than once sometimes but I am easing back into my regular posting schedule. I hope everyone is doing okay and that they’ve had a successful reading month.

Until next time,

Get To Know Me: Ten Questions About Being a Blogger/Reviewer

Hello all,

Not my picture, used from Pinterest!

So I’ve been scrounging for content ideas and decided to figure a few things out for myself. This post is mostly for me, but I am still sharing as a reminder for later.

What is my blog about? Reviews, books, promoting the authors and publishers I love

How often will I be posting? After my hiatus I’m attempting to post at least once a day if I can. Or once every other day if I’m busy.

Blogging Plans? I would love to start blog hopping on others blogs but I have no idea how. I’d like to grow traffic on my blog but not through adding ads or making pop ups. I’d love to grow more original content too.

How long have I been blogging? My history shows that I’ve been blogging for 6+years now. I’ve learned a lot and I’m hoping to steadily grow more in terms of the things I’ll learn.

Biggest Blogging Goals? Transfer all my tbr books onto my blog from Goodreads, Amazon Wishlist, and other places like it. Also interview my favorite authors such as Stephen King, Jim Butcher, and Margaret Atwood as well as others. Make my blog stand out and be a safe place for those that have triggers in books and support LGBT+. Strive to promote indie titles more than mainstream titles.

Biggest Blogging Problems? WordPress is a bit frustrating sometimes. Also I have limited funds to support the author’s I’d like to buy books of, and I also blog from my phone these days so connectivity to internet can be a challenge.

Future upcoming posts-what can you look forward to? Blog hopping maybe. Interviews with authors. More frequent book reviews would be nice as this is meant to be a place to actually review books.

Blogging pet peeves? When researching people insist on using Pinterest to promote your blog, or having a gorgeous Instagram account, or a popular YouTube channel. No thank you. I should be able to blog and grow without all that or constantly doing follow for follow. I’m not about the popularity contest in terms of blogging. I just want to do my own thing with helpful hints and guides for the blogger not the rest of it too.

How long do you intend to blog for? Will you quit? I don’t think I’d quit but a future hiatus might happen again in a few years. I missed blogging and I doubt that I will ever stop unless something happens health wise. It’s a fun hobby for me as I’m sure it is for others too!

What do you do when you aren’t blogging? Read, hopefully. Sketching. Handling up on Real Life. Working on writing and publishing my own books. Browse Twitter, YouTube, and so forth. Enjoy myself, and try not to be too stressed out or anxious. But mostly I read and have fun.

And that’s all there is, folks. I hope to eventually get back into reviewing soon, as mentioned. If you have more questions feel free to ask in the comments. Glad to see you drop by and would love to hear your thoughts on all this.

Until next time,

BOOKISH TBR: What’s On My Kindle Right Now?

Hello everyone!

I have quite the collection of books I’m attempting to get through in between my physical reads. Here’s what I have so far:

As I don’t know much about them being on kindle and not physical I’ll talk about them in my upcoming book reviews! Currently fixing to start “Days of Distraction” and looking forward to all of these. Are there any on your radar? Let me know in the comments!

Discussion: Growing Your Blog

Hey everybody,

I’ve been attempting to fix all my old blog posts so you might have noticed some changes. At some point I’m going to have to sit and figure out a way to make my website easy to read for both my laptop and my phone. I use it on my phone more and am realizing it’s not what it could be in terms of easy access. Hopefully I can get all this fixed soon. But I am discussing today blog growth!

I’ve been blogging for SIX YEARS now and have 300 followers.

In the grand scheme of things that’s not a lot, and while I’m happy at all the new faces, I seriously need to step it up a notch. These are the tactics that I learned to help me get those followers:

Follow for follow, comment for comment, have a beautiful Instagram, have a prolific Pinterest account, write up guest posts on other blogs/bring in a guest to your blog, hold a contest, publish great content, be more social & write ten posts a day.

Now I don’t know about y’all, but all that work seems ridiculous. There MUST be an easier way to generate more traffic, more followers, and grow your blog as high as you possibly can. I’m overall lazy. I know that’s not a good quality, but again. There must be an easier way. I’m also not the most social of creatures and I fight just to keep up with commenters on my blog. All this work just to make a name for yourself? Ridiculous.

And there’s others out there who cheat and pay for their blogs to gain all the followers. I don’t know about y’all but I have zero funds. Covid, medical health care, and bills take up more than all my money. Not to mention education and what remains I use to buy books and a subscription for KU (Kindle Unlimited).

If you are looking for me to tell you an easier way-I’m going to be honest and say I have no idea what easier way there is. You are going to fight to make your blog stand out. It’s going to be hard. Your going to whine and complain and feel like you don’t want this anymore because it’s too hard. Or you can also easily get burnout like I did.

I have advice though!

Don’t give up. I spent a year away from my blog and yet IT STILL GREW. I know it’s hard, believe me we’ve all been there. But eventually you’ll bypass the hundred followers mark. Soon you will get to the thousands. You just need to be patient and stick with it.

Research, ask around, make friends, watch countless how to videos, learn

I spent a lot of time scratching at Google for tips, ideas, tricks. I talked to other book bloggers that had way more experience than me. I wrote reviews that were both good and bad and I learned more than I thought I ever would.

The community makes it worth it.

The people here are amazing and supportive and the best! You’ll make new friends and find people read as much as you if not more so. Growth may happen but don’t be upset if it takes a while. Even if it takes a year or years, you need to be patient and stick with it. Keep growing content. Keep being strong.

You’ll get there.

Discussion: Making Ten Posts a Day

Hello all,

In researching how to grow content I came across usual tips such as write more and post often but one caught me off guard.

Make ten posts a day.

A day.

Ten.

I’ve been in a hiatus the last year, and going from nothing to ten posts a day seems rather… excessive.

Granted, sure, you’d generate content but would it be good content? I like making one post per day before the hiatus and I try for quality rather than quantity. I want my blog not only to look nice but to showcase my work well!

I can’t begin to imagine making ten posts a day. Would y’all like me making ten posts a day? Or just one to three posts every few days?

What do y’all think? Be sure to tell me in the comments because I genuinely want to know your thoughts on this!

Why I’m Not on Instagram

I really want to be on Instragram. I really love looking at the photos of Instagram. I just don’t have the phone capability of being on Instagram, and that makes me sad. So I just muck my way through my blog, which is challenging enough, and work my way through figuring out how to make youtube videos even though I don’t have a good camera in doing so, and attempt to budget for getting both of those things. I hope here soon to have at least a phone so that I can start doing Instagram pictures, and link it up with my blog, because there are some photos that I had really great ideas for, and I have nowhere to share them aside from my blog.

I did do Tumblr for a while, but lost interest in it. It just kept showing me the same pictures again and again, no mater how many new blogs I would find and follow, and eventually, just grew irritating. I might go back to it, I might not.

I am on Pinterest. I don’t have a board for my own personal created photos because I’m still attempting to figure it out, and building up enough photos to post as well. I have linked my Pinterest to here, so you can find me there if curious. I have a few bookish related boards if you want to check it out.

If you have suggestions for other apps that I haven’t heard about, please do share in the comments. I also want to know where to follow you, and share your images and all too!

Until next time,

About PassMeThatBook

Welcome to Pass Me That Book!

It’s been an interesting six years since I started this blog back in March 2015. I’ve learned a lot about blogging and while I don’t have a huge audience in the thousands, 300 followers is not a bad number either. I’m constantly looking to grow and change my blog, and am now in the process of updating it from the beginning.

A few things about me: l read a lot. But I don’t always review what I read especially lately with how busy things are. I prefer fiction but I will attempt the odd non fiction now and again. I’m partial to fantasy, romance, sci-fi, and suspense. I adore a good Stephen King novel or an Agatha Christie comfort read.

I’d love to see new people here, and I am always open for chatting anytime. Just feel free to hit that comment button or the follow button as it helps me out a ton. Thank you for dropping by and I hope you enjoy what you see here!
