Brief Hiatus Over: Apologies That I Was Gone a Bit!

Hello Everyone,

I’ve been gone most of this month and for that I apologize. I still somehow managed to get followers though so welcome new people! I hope you all enjoy my content and any suggestions you have that you’d like to see on my blog, please comment down below and I’ll see what I can do.

I left briefly because of all the things: heat wave in Missouri is awful, Roe Vs Wade being overturned, I was ill briefly (just a minor bug I still thankfully don’t have Covid), and stress. So. Much. Stress.

So I took a brief break, gathered a few new reviews that I hope to post soon, a few discussion posts, and some random other things too including my monthly wrap up and next month tbr!

I’m going to try to start posting once a day. I may post more than once sometimes but I am easing back into my regular posting schedule. I hope everyone is doing okay and that they’ve had a successful reading month.

Until next time,

Discussion: Growing Your Blog

Hey everybody,

I’ve been attempting to fix all my old blog posts so you might have noticed some changes. At some point I’m going to have to sit and figure out a way to make my website easy to read for both my laptop and my phone. I use it on my phone more and am realizing it’s not what it could be in terms of easy access. Hopefully I can get all this fixed soon. But I am discussing today blog growth!

I’ve been blogging for SIX YEARS now and have 300 followers.

In the grand scheme of things that’s not a lot, and while I’m happy at all the new faces, I seriously need to step it up a notch. These are the tactics that I learned to help me get those followers:

Follow for follow, comment for comment, have a beautiful Instagram, have a prolific Pinterest account, write up guest posts on other blogs/bring in a guest to your blog, hold a contest, publish great content, be more social & write ten posts a day.

Now I don’t know about y’all, but all that work seems ridiculous. There MUST be an easier way to generate more traffic, more followers, and grow your blog as high as you possibly can. I’m overall lazy. I know that’s not a good quality, but again. There must be an easier way. I’m also not the most social of creatures and I fight just to keep up with commenters on my blog. All this work just to make a name for yourself? Ridiculous.

And there’s others out there who cheat and pay for their blogs to gain all the followers. I don’t know about y’all but I have zero funds. Covid, medical health care, and bills take up more than all my money. Not to mention education and what remains I use to buy books and a subscription for KU (Kindle Unlimited).

If you are looking for me to tell you an easier way-I’m going to be honest and say I have no idea what easier way there is. You are going to fight to make your blog stand out. It’s going to be hard. Your going to whine and complain and feel like you don’t want this anymore because it’s too hard. Or you can also easily get burnout like I did.

I have advice though!

Don’t give up. I spent a year away from my blog and yet IT STILL GREW. I know it’s hard, believe me we’ve all been there. But eventually you’ll bypass the hundred followers mark. Soon you will get to the thousands. You just need to be patient and stick with it.

Research, ask around, make friends, watch countless how to videos, learn

I spent a lot of time scratching at Google for tips, ideas, tricks. I talked to other book bloggers that had way more experience than me. I wrote reviews that were both good and bad and I learned more than I thought I ever would.

The community makes it worth it.

The people here are amazing and supportive and the best! You’ll make new friends and find people read as much as you if not more so. Growth may happen but don’t be upset if it takes a while. Even if it takes a year or years, you need to be patient and stick with it. Keep growing content. Keep being strong.

You’ll get there.

Until next time,

Discussion: Making Ten Posts a Day

Hello all,

In researching how to grow content I came across usual tips such as write more and post often but one caught me off guard.

Make ten posts a day.

A day.

Ten.

I’ve been in a hiatus the last year, and going from nothing to ten posts a day seems rather… excessive.

Granted, sure, you’d generate content but would it be good content? I like making one post per day before the hiatus and I try for quality rather than quantity. I want my blog not only to look nice but to showcase my work well!

I can’t begin to imagine making ten posts a day. Would y’all like me making ten posts a day? Or just one to three posts every few days?

What do y’all think? Be sure to tell me in the comments because I genuinely want to know your thoughts on this!

Discussion: That Darn Blogging Slump

Hello all,

So, I have been stressed out and struggling with making new posts for my blog. Y’all may have noticed I was gone for almost a year on an unexpected Hiatus. But I’m struggling in coming back especially since I somehow increased in followers despite my being gone. πŸ€”

First thanks for all those who stuck around and also hello new followers! We’re almost nearing three hundred! Awesome!

Back to the slump!

I have spent some time figuring out what I want to accomplish and what I NEED to achieve with my blog. I used a lot of helpful resources on Google that really helped me figure out what I want to do. Here’s my goals:

βˆ† post more reviews

βˆ† make those lists for the topics I’ve been meaning to (safe LGBT books that aren’t full of triggers for example)

βˆ† engage with other bloggers (I’m really not much of a social person but I try)

βˆ† link those book reviews to publishers/authors/etc

βˆ† make a fully comprehensive list of trigger warnings, tag books that are NOT just mainstream traditional publishing but also indie and books on KU

βˆ† fully integrate all my wishlists onto Goodreads

βˆ† interview other bloggers, authors, and others

Now a lot of that I need a computer but don’t currently have wifi which has been my main problem! I’m doing all this by phone! So if you have advice I would love you to comment below!

I’m sincere in making more posts and stepping my toes back into blogging. I have missed it but this past year has been rough as I’m sure all of you feel the same. I still am learning all about blogging and it feels that I will always be learning something new. I’m grateful for all of you helping me out along the way. This community has been awesome and that’s one major reason miss blogging.

Thank you,

Blog Post: 10 Pending Arcs I’m Excited For on Netgalley

There are a lot of arcs on my list I’m waiting approval for (30 to be exact) but I went with the top ten to be easily more managed, and because the ten I have will be the most recognizable. Here are the top ten based on my must have at once in no particular order!

I’m fairly sure at least half of these most book readers will recognize-they have been everywhere as of late, from Booktubers to Bloggers to Tweeters. I think I’m most excited for In the Hall With a Knife-I was a HUGE Clue nerd growing up, to the point I made my siblings hate the game lol. Second most excited for book is probably The Harp of Kings. Also, another installment from Sherry Thomas! At last!

What are y’all looking forward to on Netgalley? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,

Welcome to Pass Me That Book!

It’s been an interesting six years since I started this blog back in March 2015. I’ve learned a lot about blogging and while I don’t have a huge audience in the thousands, 300 followers is not a bad number either. I’m constantly looking to grow and change my blog, and am now in the process of updating it from the beginning.

A few things about me: l read a lot. But I don’t always review what I read especially lately with how busy things are. I prefer fiction but I will attempt the odd non fiction now and again. I’m partial to fantasy, romance, sci-fi, and suspense. I adore a good Stephen King novel or an Agatha Christie comfort read.

I’d love to see new people here, and I am always open for chatting anytime. Just feel free to hit that comment button or the follow button as it helps me out a ton. Thank you for dropping by and I hope you enjoy what you see here!
