TBR Tuesday: Reading All the Things!

Hello Everyone,

I’m now going to post my tbrs on Tuesday and my weekly check-ins on Friday. I hope to stick to the schedule but with my scattered mind we’ll see. Here’s what I’m working on!

Current Reads

ITS FINALLY HERE!!! My library copy of Babel has come in! I hope to start reading it tonight!

I’m in a fantasy heavy mood, and I’m also reading some classics off the banned book lists, and some old fantasy and sci-fi books that I missed out on. My reading is all over the place as I attempt to cram in all I can before the end of the year.

I have a few things to tackle such as Banned Books, Newberry Awards, Women Authors, Goodreads Nominees, and Read Your Own Bookshelf. I hope to get through these and I’m at 15 books for the month already! I’m crossing my fingers that I can keep up the momentum into the new year and start off strong. Are you reading any of these? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,

Current Reads: I’ve Already Read 12 Books So Far!

Hello Everyone,

Another current reads where I talk about what I’ve read so far this month. And I’m impressed with myself, I managed twelve (and a half!) books already! β˜ΊοΈπŸ‘ Now granted I’m not anywhere near my Netgalley goal. I’ve read four Netgalley books (I’m working on the forth as we speak!) and I haven’t increased my percentage at all. But it’s still early. Let’s talk about what I’ve read!

Books Read:

I hate to say it. But I dnf’d this book and series. It just didn’t work for me. I didn’t like the characters, I didn’t like the plot and I just gave it up. This was my second attempt and I’m calling it quits. Sorry for all the fans out there but this just wasn’t my cup of tea. 2 ⭐.

Immediately after that I read this and y’all. The hype is worth it! This was beautiful and five gorgeous ⭐! I highly recommend it especially for the Halloween season!

Then a few Netgalley books were read, a really cute graphic novel that I gave five stars to, and also a short story by Madeline Miller that I sadly gave two point five stars. I’m not going to be reading Circe or Song of Achilles any time soon. Sorry!

Current Reads:

I started a few things that aren’t on my kindle because I’m trying to power through and get them finished before the end of the year. Here’s what I’m working on:

Tigana is one that I’m eager for. Next year I plan on catching up with all of Guy Gavrial Kay and I have heard so many good things about his books.

Mask of Mirrors I have book two as a Netgalley Arc so I want to crush both of them this month. Considering their epic page count? I hope to be successful.

The Cloud Roads is by a top ten favorite author of mine. As I’ve caught up with Murderbot aside from the last book, I’m going to her fantasy series next!

The City We Became is a NK Jemesin masterpiece…or so trusted friends have said. I’m leery but excited at the same time.

Next Up:

I have a stack waiting for after I finish the ones above. These are shorter so hopefully I can finish them faster!

And that’s what I’ve been working on! What are you currently reading? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,

Netgalley November 2022 TBR: Random, Popular, and Overdue Books

Hello Everyone,

I’m participating in Netgalley November, and I have a vague tbr in mind. I’m not doing the photos and challenges and all that, I’m just reading and plowing through as many arcs as I can, whilst uploading my reviews too. I’m two books in already so that’s a good start!

My dream is to get my feedback ratio from 14% to 45%. I’m crossing my fingers and hoping that I can see those numbers steadily rise (apart from those I’ve been approved for lol). I’d really love getting back to 80% but unless I work hard on it, it’s not going to happen. So. This month I’m working on making it my goal to read, read, read. No social media. No games. I’m holding myself accountable and I will get this goal met. Or die trying. Too dramatic? Maybe but I’m tired of those numbers staring at me in the face.

Just Finished Reading:

I finished this yesterday. In that I dnf’d because I was not by 40% of the book. RTC soon. (Also sorry about the cover size that’s the only one I could find!)

I’m about ten percent of the way through this. It’s starting off strong and most books published by Angry Robot I adore so why I haven’t read this yet I don’t know. Plus this cover feels just right with snow just around the corner! Inspired by Slavic Folklore? Yes please, sign me up!

My TBR:

These are the ten I hope to get to read this coming week. I’m hoping for a book a day, maybe two if I’m lucky. I’ve tried picking ones I’m truly interested in and hopefully I will manage to make a dent in my large tbr.

Until next time,

November 2022 TBR: Assorted Books I Meant to Read For the Year

Hello Everyone,

I’m a little late posting this, but here I am still close enough to the start of the month to count! I have a hefty batch of books that I’d like to get to, but we’ll see how it goes! Anyway. Here’s my ambitious as usual list!

80 is ambitious. Hugely ambitious but I’m nothing if not optimistic and bored, lol. Are any of these books that I should prioritize? Let me know in the comments!

October 2022 Wrap Up: I Read 30 Books for October!

Hello Everyone,

I’m posting this a couple of days early mostly to get back on track with my schedule for posting. I’ve a few exciting things to post and share with you all. I’m looking forward to it, but first let me say. This month was a slam dunk in terms of reading! I read so much! Let’s show what the best books of October are!

October’s Best Books:

October started off rocky with a few dnf’s and low rated novels, but then I saw a trailer for The Wonder by Emma Donoghue and had to read the book immediately. It did not disappoint! It was the first five star read of the month and it was followed by a few small picture books (I got them on my kindle, as I didn’t realize until reading them they were picture books oops!), a graphic novel called Garlic and the Vampire that was utterly adorable, followed by The Tide Singer which was children’s fiction but excellent for the spooky season. Spectacle came shortly after that and it was very gripping and the cliffhanger is making me desperately want book two. Finally we end the month on a high note. I finally read Six Crimson Cranes and oh my god! The writing! The characters! The representation! It was so good I immediately put a special edition of the book on my wishlist and I plan to buy it asap! It was worth six stars, it was easily the best thing I read all month!!! I can’t wait for the second book and luckily I have an arc for it!

I’m looking forward to November and hoping to breach 30 books. I very much want that 50 books in a month goal matched! I’m crossing my fingers but as the holidays are fast approaching I’m unsure of exactly how much I have time for reading. I hope everyone has a good wrap up for October and let me know your thoughts about the coming month and how you think your reading will go.

Until next time,

Netgalley November: A Potential TBR

Hello Everyone,

Next month is Netgalley November and let me tell you. It’s been ages since I did reviews of any kind for Netgalley.

My dream is to get my feedback ratio up to at least 45%. But considering the sheer volume of unread books I would need to put in some serious effort.

That’s not including the 300 backlog books I just never got to! I have been approved for so many things so often and I also am auto approved for four different publishers, that I am overwhelmed at the sheer amount of books in my tbr. So many good ones too! My kindle is stuffed to the brim! Here’s a few that I’m dying to get to:

And many more. These are the top ones on my kindle Netgalley tbr. I seriously need to focus hard on these and more next month. I’m hoping to get through at least ten the first week. I can usually handle that fairly easily. The top ones I plan to read are:

These are top of my list! I can’t wait to dive into them, though a couple are quite big. I’m especially looking forward to reading T Kingfisher at last and I really want to get to The Wolf Den as I heard nothing but good things!

This is just a potential tbr, but the five books selected are definitely being read next month! What are all of you reading for November? Let me know in the comments!

October 2022 TBR: Ambitious And Atmospheric Reads

Hello Everyone,

I’m skipping the September wrap up and I also am skipping the week long readathon. Blogging lately has been a challenge and I apologize for missing posts. I have a few ideas saved but I’m just not in the blogging mood. Instead I have great news.

MY READING SLUMP IS GONE!!!!!!

Now I’m cautious about my tbr for October. I’m heavily a mood reader at this point and I’m attempting to knock out books that have been on my tbr backlist for ages. I have split things into categories and I hope it makes this post easier to read.

Spooky Vibes:

Horror Reads:

Most Likely To Read:

Backlist Hopefuls:

Extras I Might Get To:

Those are all my hopefuls with a few I’m definitely getting to this month! Its currently October 9th and I have only read 4 books (my lowest amount for a while) and I’m hoping today that I can cram in a few more books. I have a large amount that I very much want to get to, as usual. I hope everyone has an enjoyable reading month and happy holidays!

🎡 Girls, Girls, Girls 🎡: All the Girls That Are On My TBR

Hello Everyone,

I have a lot of books on my tbr and I thought that I’d do a fun thing of “books with girls in the title”. This isn’t by all means all of them. It’s just a handful of them I thought I’d share. I’m not going to tag any descriptions for now as that would take ages. But here’s the books with “girls” in the title:

I have a few that I’m eager to get to and some that have been on my tbr for ages (Wilder Girls was an arc oops) and I know there’s loads more to find with ‘girls’ in the title. Do you recognize any of these? Let me know in the comments.

3 of 7 Reading Challenge: How Many Books Did I Read Yesterday?

Hello Everyone,

Wow yesterday’s reading sucked royally. I read only one book. A 400 page book that was a historical romance and I gave it five stars. And that’s it. I just had zero interest in anything else. I lingered in that book and I’m still thinking about it. A review will be up after my challenge is done.

Today it’s already noon. I’m grabbing lunch then I’m going to try to pick up my reading pace. I’m torn on what to choose. I think I’ll try to work on my nightstand selections.

I’m probably not going to read all of these lol. But maybe four of them? πŸ€” I’m hoping to get to it starting at 1pm after I have some lunch. Then into the reading challenge I go. Have you read any of these? Let me know in the comments what I should add.

Until next time,

Day 2 of 7 Reading Challenge: How Many Books Did I Read Yesterday?

Hello Everyone,

I’m checking in with an update on my week long reading challenge and yesterday I read 3 books! Were any on my tbr? No. I’ll show all the books that I read at the end of the challenge.

This morning I had to get a few things done before I could sit and read uninterrupted. I have a small farm and I must care for animals first. Priorities. I’m also making tea and ate breakfast and now at 10am I can read for the rest of the day. Here are my chosen books:

As this is copyrighted, I’m obligated in saying no copyright infringement is intended.

Goodreads Summary:

A JOURNEY OF THE SOUL

Serena Rogan had traveled from Ireland to pursue a new dream in America. Yet as a washerwoman for Blackjack Kingston in a Dakota mining camp, she knew only slavery and submission. Until she risked her life rescuing a group of Sioux women, and entered a world filled with love and respect – and Black Wolf.

A Lakota medicine man, Black Wolf yearned for the day the red-haired Serena would stop fearing him. For he was determined to show her that a man could be a friend as well as a lover.

This is an arc that I need to read before the end of the month!

Goodreads Summary:

Since time immemorial the warriors of the Paladin Order have harnessed arcane powers to protect their rulers. For Balen, who has given up his chance at love and fought his way to the top of the Paladin Order, there can be no greater honor than to serve his king. But when assassins annihilate the royal family, Balen suddenly finds himself sworn to serve the very man he abandoned.

Now with their nation threatened by enemies both within and outside the kingdom, Balen must fight hidden traitors and unnatural assassins, while also contending with the biting wit and dangerous charm of young King Zavrius. To save themselves and their nation they will have to put aside their past and reforge that trust they lost so long ago.

And I still have all these, minus Past Promises from the historical fiction selection. I’m hoping to get more than three books read today as I have the house to myself and lots of hours to read. If anything pops out at you, and you think I should make it a priority, let me know in the comments!
