Welcome all to another episode of “What Can Go Wrong”?. Last week I made this a new game in which a random number generator picks me a book from one shelf, only I have now expanded that to two shelves! Already this is turning into a terrible idea!

You’ll see lots of familiar faces on the shelves-Agatha Christie, Tamara Pierce, Donna Tartt. But there’s not so popular books too! So we have a wide range to choose from! Let’s play!

Sh*t. F*ck. No. Why does this hate me? The first pick was The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman and I enjoyed it a lot but this? *glances at pages: 732 pages. I have to read this in a week to get to pick my next book. If I don’t finish there’s a punishment. I haven’t figured out what the punishment is yet, suggestions would be good y’all. Anyway.
Goodreads Summary:
Few first novels have created as much popular excitement as The Pickwick Papers–-a comic masterpiece that catapulted its 24-year-old author to immediate fame. Readers were captivated by the adventures of the poet Snodgrass, the lover Tupman, the sportsman Winkle &, above all, by that quintessentially English Quixote, Mr Pickwick, & his cockney Sancho Panza, Sam Weller. From the hallowed turf of Dingley Dell Cricket Club to the unholy fracas of the Eatanswill election, via the Fleet debtor’s prison, characters & incidents sprang to life from Dickens’s pen, to form an enduringly popular work of ebullient humour & literary invention.
Here’s hoping that I can finish this in a week. Maybe. Doubtful. Wish me luck!
Until next time,
Pass Me That Book
