July TBR 2022: A Hefty Batch of New and Old Titles

Hello Everyone,

I’m feeling ambitious as usual but I figured out how to lock my computer so I can get off that and read more, mwahaha. As I don’t watch tv, I’m setting a challenge to read 50 books (again) and I’m determined to actually do it this time! Last time I managed exactly half. This time I’m aiming for a successful month to read all I can. Big or small, I’m eager to get through this hefty tbr! Let’s get to it shall we?

I know, I know. Many of you are probably screaming at me that I haven’t read any of these. I’ve put them off and put them off. Well no more! This isn’t the whole pile, fyi. I’ve a crapton of Kindle books I hope to get to also. And a few of these have been on my tbr again and again. I hope this is the last time, I really do.

My plan:

  • Three books a day unless it’s over 500+ pages
  • Write those reviews as soon as I finish reading
  • If I can’t stand the book, dnf at 100 pages
  • Read at least three hours a day (I’m a fast reader)
  • No computer, no tv until I finish a book, with exception of the news at nine pm as I catch the weather there.
  • If I successfully do this I earn an expensive $50 book of my choosing as a reward!

And that’s my goal for the month of July. It’s already July fifth and I’m currently reading Kaikeyi and loving it. It’s well over 500+ pages so it is a bit dense and taking me a bit to get through. Plus I had to pause for a family get together though we weren’t celebrating much in all honesty we were just talking about the future and enjoying good food. So. Fingers crossed that this works.

Are y’all reading anything this month that’s on my list? Let me know! I’d love to chat about it with you!

Until next time,

Current Reads: A Bit of Everything

Hello Everyone,

Tis I, the infrequent blogger returned once again! I feel like I haven’t posted a bit of what I’ve been reading so here. Lemme fix that! As there’s a historical readathon going on and Realmathon (which I’ve been sadly failing at) I hope to get more reading done soon! Here’s what I have open at the moment!

Look at me trying to make my own stickers!

Historical Fiction I’m reading:

These are just some of my hopefuls but I don’t know that I’ll get to all of them. And now onto my fantasy shelf!

Fantasy Novels I’m Reading:

All of these are huge, well over 300 pages but I hope to get through a few of them at least. I’ve been on a historical romance kick here lately and I’m flying through those for the historical romance readathon as that’s only a week long while Realmathon happens all month long. I’m barely into 50 pages for Grace of Kings, and I’m just starting the Hacienda. Both look to be good reads.

I’d love to know what you all are reading. Are you participating in any events? Readathons? Do let me know in the comments. Hit the like button and if you read this far I’d love it if you subscribed to my blog.

May 2022 TBR: Reading Big Books For May

Hello Everyone,

May has a lot of Readathons going on. There’s the Historical Romance Readathon going from the 9-15. There’s Realmathon happening throughout all the month of May. There’s also lots of others, that I may or may not join yet. I’m still deciding. But onto what I’m reading!

My Potentially Ambitious TBR:

This is the month that I’m determined to read all the big books that I’ve put off and put off and put off. I’m tired of staring at them and desiring them but not reading them. I’m also going to be reading a fair bit of historical romances as they go faster than the fantasy sometimes does. What are all of you reading? Let me know in the comments what I should make a priority!

My Bookshelf Tour: A Sneak Peak At My 2022 TBR

Hello everyone,

Today I thought I’d do a bookshelf tour of all the books that I have on my never ending tbr pile. I’m not the best photographer but I do hope that this is still an enjoyable post! I love seeing others shelves so feel free to share yours in the comments!

Up first, my tbr shelf. As I sadly don’t own an actual tbr cart (yet!) I’m doing a tbr shelf instead. Jade City is a buddy read and the rest are my priorities for the year. I’m hoping to get to all of them eventually. I just started Glory Season by David Brin too, and I hope to start City of Brass soon as well.

The other half of my immediate tbr shelf! I have read Red Rising but never finished the series and remember nothing of book one so I’m due for a reread. I also adore Sebastian de Castell and really want to finish that series this year.

My second shelf of priorities is a mixed bag of tricks! I’ve got fantasy and thrillers, scifi and ya. I really need to catch up with Red Sister by Mark Lawrence, and there’s lots of others I want to read too!

The other half of the above shelf. Need I say more? Actually that Ken Follet book is book three. Books one and two I don’t own yet. The other Sharon Shinn books of that series are in my room… somewhere.

All my big books I’m intimidated by! 😳

The other half of my scary shelf. Jade City is currently being read (finally!).

My assorted, disorganized new books. Mostly historical fiction, mysteries and thrillers.

There you guys go! That’s my current tbr piles. Not my whole library then this post will be much longer! Hopefully you spot something to add to your own tbrs! Let me know what you think about this post in the comments! Good bad needs work? Lol.

Until next time,

WWW Wednesday: How is it Wednesday again already?!?

Hello everyone,

Its time for another round of WWW Wednesday! I’ve only read three books this past week, but one was a classic. Here are the books that I finished reading!

What did I finish reading?

Silver in the Wood by Emily Tesh is a five star read. Romeo and Juliet was better than I remembered while sadly Psalm for the Wild Built wasn’t what I hoped it would be and I dnf’d it.

What am I currently reading?

These three are buddy reads! I’m at 120 pages of Jade City, I just started the Diviners and I have yet to start Bone Witch though that will change soon!

These are the books I’m currently working on. All of these apart from Glory Season and Battlemage are relatively short. I’m trying to really read a lot this week and get up to 50 books but not just reading short fiction. My plan is to read a bunch of short things with a couple big things in between and it seems to be working in getting rid of my slumps at last!

What am I reading next?

A lot of backlog titles I’m trying to get to. I really hope to read The Last Cuentista and The Stars Are Legion most of all.

What are all of you reading? Anything good? Let me know in the comments. I’m hoping to seriously thin down my tbr this year. I’m very tired of the backlog just glaring at me. Time to actually get some reading done this year!

Until next time,

WWW Wednesday: I only read 3 books last week? 😬

Hello Everyone,

It’s time for another WWW Wednesday! I’m shocked by how little I read last week but then it’s almost Thanksgiving so maybe not so surprising. Stress and family make a huge difference in how much reading I get done apparently. Who knew? 🤔

What am I currently reading:

I’m really trying to get back into the reading groove! Hopefully these lovelies will help!

What did I receive finish reading?

Apparently not much read this week! Two five star books and the inside ring I dnf’d sadly. Political thrillers aren’t much my thing, though some are awesome this just didn’t work for me.

What will I read next?:

I’m hoping for a lot of arcs/series catch up!

I sincerely hope to read more this week but thanks to it being Thanksgiving I doubt I’ll manage much at all. I will have a lot more to do with it being the holidays.

A special note from Pass Me That Book…I hope everyone reading this has a happy Thanksgiving, or any other holiday that you celebrate during this time. I hope all of you get a good meal and a safe place to sleep. Please stay safe out there, y’all. Happy reading and I won’t be back on until December.

Happy holidays!

Discussion (Part Two): Series/Authors Backlist Titles To Focus On for 2022 (A Hefty List Continued!)

Hello Everyone,

As I’m writing this, the year is wrapping rapidly to a close and I’m still reading quite a bit. I plan to get a lot more serious in reading and reviewing next year as this past year I had a bit of a hiatus. Now it’s time to focus on my blog once again, and that means making priorities of book series to complete/finish for the next year. Here’s more authors and series I’m determined to get to!

Obviously I have quite a bit of books. 55 exactly on this list. I don’t have all of them listed that are on my wishlist that would take up far, far too much space. I’m not going to type up the list but if you want titles feel free to ask and I shall send you the titles in the comments. What’s on your tbr for next year? Anything good?

Until next time,

Discussion (PART ONE): Series/Authors Backlist Books That I Plan To Read For 2022 (A Hefty List)

Hello Everyone,

As of this moment I have over 6,000 books on my want to read shelf. I have almost read 2500(!) books. I’m still in awe at the sheer amount of unread books versus read books. I’ve been reading all my life but it seems as though I’ll never catch up. Also my unread owned books isn’t accurate, but I hope to fix that after Christmas when I get new books to add to my ever growing tbr. But onto the backlist titles!

Agatha Christie

It’s my great displeasure that I have read practically zero of Agatha Christie for 2021. I thought I had read more than two of her books, but regretfully not. I hope to read her books, and introduce a series on my blog called Reading Agatha. (Title in progress.) I hope to read a lot of Agatha Christie books next year and work my way through her backlist titles!

David Eddings

Now I have read a lot of Eddings but I’ve never finished out his books. I read all five of the first Belgariad books, though not any of his others. I hope to correct that next year with lots of rereads and new reads by this author whose one of my favorite fantasy authors.

Kristin Britain

I read Green Rider really enjoyed it but hadn’t picked up the rest of the series at all. Mostly because my library doesn’t seem to have them, but my plan is to reread book one, buy the others, and continue on with the series. This way I hope to be done by spring or late summer if all goes well.

Tad Williams

Another author I adore but never seem to catch up with is Tad Williams. I love his writing and his characters. Each world he created feels unique. I have read maybe six of his books out of order. 22 I hope to read them fully in order and catch up to all his works. But considering his books are as large or bigger than Brandon Sanderson books, that may be quite a challenge!

Brandon Sanderson

Is anyone surprised to see Sanderson on the list? No. Okay, enough said, moving on…

JRR Tolkien & Christopher Tolkien

I recently learned there were alternate versions of the Lord of the Rings and I also haven’t read any of the rest of the books. I hope to do a reread of the series, followed by the rest of the novels. I just have to get copies of them, either through my library or buying them.

Michelle West

I started this series and I very much want to continue reading it. I’m sure I can get far if the library can help me with gaining a copy of the books.

Kate Elliott

Another author that I’ve barely read is Kate Elliott. She’s one of my recent favorites from last year but I haven’t picked up the rest of her books. I hope to next year and plow through series after series and finish another authors backlist titles.

Janny Wurts

Janny Wurts is a name I heard a lot of but have read nothing of her books. Least not that I recall anyway. I don’t own any but I’ve been curious for a few years now about why she’s so awesome according to fans. I hope to read her series next year, but I’m not holding my breath.

Guy Gavrial Kay

Another author that I’ve read one book years ago but really wanted to read his new stuff that’s come out recently is Guy Gavrial Kay. His covers are so fascinating and the storylines are long and good. Tigana is the first I read but certainly not the last!

~•~•~•~•~

I can list books and authors all day but I need to remember to keep this semi short. So this is Part One. I’ll maybe do three parts, or five depending on how things turn out. I’m trying to keep this list semi organized, but I hope it’s helpful to all of you as well. Happy reading and I hope your lists for next year aren’t equally as daunting.

Until next time,

TBR BOOKS: 100+ Books I STILL Haven’t Read

Hello Everyone,

I’m sure we’re all guilty of having books on our shelves languishing on our shelves, sitting and waiting with accusing eyes. I’ve easily got several dozen that I am guilty of not reading yet. Here’s a bit of a list of all that I’m hoping to get to soon! So settle in, bring up Goodreads, and be prepared to add books to your TBR!

TBR BOOKS:

Many of these I’m embarrassed that I still haven’t read them! I’m always looking at other books or arcs that are priorities and many of these I just don’t have and need my library to access them. Which ones should I focus on? Also? Final count for all of this is 125 books. Ouch. There’s more but these are top of my tbr pile for now. I’m hoping to get to them soon.

Popular Fantasy Books: My Upcoming Planned Reviews

Hello Everyone,

Lately I’ve been really swapping between fantasy and romance with a few mysteries thrown in. I miss reading the big fantasy books, the ones that get hyped up and I decided to do something about it. At least once a week I will try to read a popular Fantasy book and give it a fair review. Let me show you which ones I’m most eager for!

These are the top nine books, with ten being a mystery surprise. I’m hoping to get through each of these before the end of the year though some are quite long. These are my most highly anticipated reads along with others of course but I have immediate access to these so I best get to reading! Let me know which one you think I should start with first!
