April 2022 TBR: Allllllll the boooooooooooooks!!!!

Hello Everyone,

I’m in a reading mood! Finally I’ve been seriously crushing my tbr! So I thought I would have a massive tbr (as always 😆) and share with you just what all I want to read. I’ve embraced that I’m a heavy mood reader so really anything may be chosen for April. Here’s some of what I have to read:

These are all my library books; a couple are not library books but ones that I own!

My TBR Cart:

Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel

Silver on the Road by Laura Anne Gilman

The Heartbreak Bakery by AR Capetta

For the Wolf by Hannah Whitten

Light From Uncommon Stars by Ryka Aoki

The Bone Orchard by Sara A. Mueller

Spectacle by Jodie Lynn Zdrok

When We Were Birds by Ayanna Lloyd Banwo

I Must Betray You by Ruta Septys

The Starless Crown by James Rollins

The Red Palace by Jane Hur

A Thousand Steps Into Night by Traci Chee

The Family Chao by Lan Samantha Chang

History of Wild Places by Shea Ernshaw

The Best of All Possible Worlds by Karen Lord

As if that’s not enough, though some I can just fly right through, I’ve also got these!:

I adore historical romance, can you tell?

I’m not going to list titles for all the historical romances there, but some authors are my favorites including Kerrigan Bryne, Kinley McGregor, and Sabrina Jeffries. Others I haven’t yet read from but recognize their names. I’m eager to get to at least some of these! (And if you want to recommend me some of your favorites, just let me know in the comments who think I should read next!)

Of course I’m not done yet! Did you really think that was it? Lol, not quite!:

Look at all the fantasy!

So many of these I’ve put off for ages! I’m hoping to finally get to these as I’m in a reading mood at last! I really want to read more hefty fantasies this year, and April seems the perfect month for it!

And finally, I learned how to make a collection on my kindle! I made a collection of my tbr of all the books that I haven’t read. And um. Guys. 380 books. 😬:

Clearly I’m not going to show every book in my kindle. That just takes up too much space, but I’ll list a few of my top priorities:

The Dragon Republic by RF Kuang

Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse

From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson (possible re-read)

First Riders Call by Kristen Britain

His Majesty’s Dragon by Naomi Novak

I hope to get some serious reading done this month. In between all the things that I’m doing for my family, I’m sure that I’ll be able to squeeze some books in! How’s your April tbr going? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,

My Bookshelf Tour: A Sneak Peak At My 2022 TBR

Hello everyone,

Today I thought I’d do a bookshelf tour of all the books that I have on my never ending tbr pile. I’m not the best photographer but I do hope that this is still an enjoyable post! I love seeing others shelves so feel free to share yours in the comments!

Up first, my tbr shelf. As I sadly don’t own an actual tbr cart (yet!) I’m doing a tbr shelf instead. Jade City is a buddy read and the rest are my priorities for the year. I’m hoping to get to all of them eventually. I just started Glory Season by David Brin too, and I hope to start City of Brass soon as well.

The other half of my immediate tbr shelf! I have read Red Rising but never finished the series and remember nothing of book one so I’m due for a reread. I also adore Sebastian de Castell and really want to finish that series this year.

My second shelf of priorities is a mixed bag of tricks! I’ve got fantasy and thrillers, scifi and ya. I really need to catch up with Red Sister by Mark Lawrence, and there’s lots of others I want to read too!

The other half of the above shelf. Need I say more? Actually that Ken Follet book is book three. Books one and two I don’t own yet. The other Sharon Shinn books of that series are in my room… somewhere.

All my big books I’m intimidated by! 😳

The other half of my scary shelf. Jade City is currently being read (finally!).

My assorted, disorganized new books. Mostly historical fiction, mysteries and thrillers.

There you guys go! That’s my current tbr piles. Not my whole library then this post will be much longer! Hopefully you spot something to add to your own tbrs! Let me know what you think about this post in the comments! Good bad needs work? Lol.

Until next time,

WWW Wednesday: I read 11 Books for the Start of 2022

Hello everyone,

It’s my first WWW Wednesday of this year! I’m happy to report that my reading has been going amazingly well! So many great books and already two that I think are the best books I’ve read yet! Let’s dive right into it shall we?

What did I finish reading?

This was a dnf at forty percent. I tried but I just wasn’t hooked as much as I’d hoped to be! 3 ⭐
5 ⭐! Glorious! Awe inspiring perfection! This is so far my most favorite read of the year!!! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
I hadn’t realized this was a kids book but it had a good message and lovely artwork. 5 ⭐
5 ⭐!!! Such a cool concept and such tension! 💜
This was okay. I may need a reread to fully think my rating over. 3 ⭐
2 ⭐. Dnf. The pacing for this was weak and I didn’t much like the characters. Interesting concept for the bad guy though. Not terrible writing but definitely needs an editor. Kindle freebie I got years ago and read on a whim.
5 ⭐! This was way better than I thought it would be! I adore Scottish mysteries though the ending felt abrupt this was still quite fun!

~•~•~•~•~

What am I currently reading?

Not a lot at the moment. I still have my Jade City buddy read going. I’m at page 82 and nowhere close to halfway lol. I also have these I’m reading:

What am I reading next?

I honestly have no idea. I’m trying to get books that have been on my tbr a while, even as I mix it with new releases to keep things fresh. Aside from Jade City, I’m mood reading right now before I start seriously tackling my enormous arc pile on Netgalley! February is going to be the start of my #ArcApocalypse again I think. Still feeling things out as I don’t want to have as many slumps as I did last year. This year I plan on doing things a bit different. WWW Wednesday once a month, maybe. And more book reviews. I’m still organizing. I also got a new phone so I have been transferring everything too which is fun…so many things to do! I hope everyone has been reading well at the start of the new year.

Until next time,

WWW Wednesday: I read 6 books since the last time I did this.

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to another WWW Wednesday! I skipped last week’s because I hadn’t read but a single book and I just wasn’t in the mood for posting anything. This one isn’t much better in that I read five books + a short story. I have a couple new favorites and a lot of dnf’s. Let’s just get to it shall we?

What did I finish reading?

I’m struggling against a reading slump. Again. I’ve three books before I hit 250 books on my Goodreads goal. I’m hoping to get some reading in the next two days before the new year. I should manage it. Here’s what I’ve recently finished reading:

What am I currently reading?

What am I going to read next?

I’m in such a fantasy mood right now! Finally!!! I’m doubtful that I can read any of these before the end of the year but I’m still including these as my “potentials”. I know Knights Shadow is not the first but I want to read the whole series; same for the others! I’m hoping that next year I will be back into reading with fewer slumps! Doubtful but hopeful! What did you read since last Wednesday? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,

WWW Wednesday: I Somehow Read 8 books this week? 🤷

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to another www wednesday where I tell you all about what I managed to read last week. I somehow managed to read 8 books. Amazing. Though none were five stars a lot were good. A few were dnf’s. But let’s start with what I’m currently reading shall we?

What am I Currently Reading?:

All of these are ebooks and I’m currently waiting for my kindle to charge so that I can keep reading lol. I just started the Keening and it’s about 300 pages I think anyway and it’s a recent release. I should finish it fast soon as my kindle is charged. The others I plan to read immediately after if I can without family pestering me during the holidays coming lol.

What did I finish reading?:

The best book was Caressed by Ice by Nalini Singh at 4.5 stars. The worst book that I dnf’d was Life Class. I just didn’t care for it at all. I also read Skin of the Sea by Natasha Bowen and gave it 4 stars. And another book but I can’t remember which one lol.

What will I read next?

For ebooks I already answered up above but here’s the physical books that I hope to read soon:

Yes, yes I know! I’m still behind on all these big fantasies but honestly I’ve been reading on my kindle more lately more than I have physical books. I’m hoping to get to these soon, but I’m behind again on Netgalley too. So I’m unsure how my reading will turn out by the end of the year. How’s your reading going? Make your Goodreads goal yet? I only have ten books left to reach 250 books read for the year! I’m hoping to reach it!

Until next time, happy holidays everyone!

TBR BOOKS: 100+ Books I STILL Haven’t Read

Hello Everyone,

I’m sure we’re all guilty of having books on our shelves languishing on our shelves, sitting and waiting with accusing eyes. I’ve easily got several dozen that I am guilty of not reading yet. Here’s a bit of a list of all that I’m hoping to get to soon! So settle in, bring up Goodreads, and be prepared to add books to your TBR!

TBR BOOKS:

Many of these I’m embarrassed that I still haven’t read them! I’m always looking at other books or arcs that are priorities and many of these I just don’t have and need my library to access them. Which ones should I focus on? Also? Final count for all of this is 125 books. Ouch. There’s more but these are top of my tbr pile for now. I’m hoping to get to them soon.

Until next time,

WWW WEDNESDAY: A Return to Memes?

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to WWW Wednesdays! hosted bySam @ Taking on a World of Words.

What have I read?

A lot! I’ve been reading a fair few lately, I just finished a few historical romances and military romances, but also I have read a single nonfiction book. But here are the books I have read for October already!

Overall for October only one 5 ⭐ read so far. I’m hopeful that that will soon change. I haven’t picked up a book yet, but I’m eyeing several in my kindle even as I’m writing this!

What Am I Currently Reading?

I’m apparently in a weird reading mood where I want to read dark fantasy that’s got lots of graphic violence and historical romance that’s anything but, lol.

Mostly dark fantasy, a couple of novellas flung in for good measure. I’m probably going to do the historical romances in a separate post maybe. I don’t know yet.

What Will I Read Next?

Honestly, I have no idea my reading mood is wild now that I’m not back in a slump. I’ve already (checks Goodreads) read 9 books! I did dnf three, however and only one 5 star read. I’m hoping that will soon change. I’m positive Jay Kristoff will at least be 5 stars, so there’s that at least lol. What all have you been reading? Anything exciting? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,

October TBR: My Favorite Month Is Here!!! 🦇📚🦇

Hello Everyone,

My top three exciting reads!!!

There’s so many books that I want to read right now but am patiently waiting for my library to get them on hold. Also a book fair at my library tomorrow, finally! I’m dying to go. Last time I didn’t do a lot of pictures this time I am attempting to. Let me know if it’s too much?

These are just a handful of the books that I eagerly want to read. I’m hopeful most for Empire of the Vampire & From Blood and Ashes & Gideon the Ninth. I’m excited for all of them, of course, but we’ll see how the month shapes up! Let me know what your reading or have read. Happy October!!! 🦇📚🦇

Until next time,

September TBR: I Haven’t Done One Of These In Ages!

Hello all,

Lots of things happening in September. September first is my birthday!!! 🎂🎉🎂 Happy birthday to me!!! (I’ll be 32 for those curious.)

Series September is also going on, meaning you try to knock out as many series as possible.

Magical Readathon is happening but I doubt I’ll participate in that one.

Becca’s Bookopolathon which I think I misspelled lol, is also happening. I’m not sure I will participate in this yet or not?

Big Books September is something I’m doing for myself in reading as many big books as I can seeing as we’re at the home stretch of the end of the year.

Here’s my potential tbr subject to change:

All the books I want to read!

Now I have read Eragon books 1 + 2 but I don’t think I’ve read book 3 and I know I haven’t read the last one.

I have read the Poppy War but not the remaining two.

I have read ALL of Pawn of Prophecy first original set up until the second series midway through.

And I’ve read book one of Sabriel but not the rest.

See a theme going here? Lol. I’m hoping to grab these from my local library and finish these all off hopefully. The rest I haven’t listed are ones that I’ve not read. These are some extras that I’m contemplating for series + big books:

Extra books I’ve been meaning to read!

I probably won’t get to all of these lol. And I’m still struggling in writing reviews, but I really am behind and hopeful that September can be my catch up month. Y’all can join me in #BigBookSeptember. I’d love for you to spread the word! Just tag me on Twitter as @Lovesbookandtea! What’s your tbr looking like? Read any of these? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,

Start of a Series Book Review: Into the Wilderness

Book One

Into the Wilderness by Sara Donatti. This is described as a ambitious sequel to one of my favorite classics The Last of the Mohiacns, though you don’t need to read that to read this. Written back in 1998, after Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, this is one of my top five historical fiction romance books. Unlike Outlander, this doesn’t feature a time travel element, however it is directly linked to the series, as within the halfway point of book one, Clair Fraiser is outright mentioned for at least six pages as ‘the White Witch’. Its a nod to one of the biggest romance series of all time, that’s so well known it became a hit series on Hulu a few years back.

The story begins with Elizabeth, a spinster wishing to teach school in Paradise. But there’s problems. For one thing, her family is cash poor thanks to her brother’s gambling debts. For another, her father-the Judge-wishes her to marry Dr. Richard Todd. But she’s firm in remaining a spinster…until she meets Nathanial Bonner, direct descendant of Daniel (Dan’l) Boone. She is wary around him, unsure of what to expect of him-or this new land so rife with both bounty and troubles. Slavery is still legal. No one’s at first eager for a schoolmarm, worried more about cost and that what she teaches will not be useful to the students, apart from math or geography, reading or writing. She fights for her school, as well as her freedom in not to marry.

There’s lots of other problems scattered throughout the book. Someone attempting to run Nathanial and his people off of Lake in the Clouds, as they don’t want Indians on their territory. Rougher weather than usual settling in. A dangerous threat looming. And the potential for marriage in Elizabeth’s future, despite her wishes being made clear to her father. She struggles to grow used to her new home in Paradise, while the people struggle with the fact she’s not the spoiled princess they thought she’d be.

The story spans eight hundred plus pages, and evolves for at least six more books. I’d read book one at least ten times throughout the last fifteen years, and I’m still drawn in to the whole of it. Its one of my most favorite historical romances that I’d read in my life, and I am sincerely hoping it gets its own television series being linked with Outlander so. I cannot rate this highly enough, if you want fiction with depth, history, and romance as well as adventure, then I recommend picking up this book. You won’t regret doing so.
