September TBR 2022: A Month of Reading All the Things!

Hello Everyone,

This month is the month of strict reading! No computer except for reviewing only! No tv. I’m behind on my Goodreads goal by 60 books. I’m hoping to seriously catch up. I have read one short ebook this far (five stars!) and hope to get more reading on tonight. Here’s my excessive tbr that I hope to stick with:

These are my kindle books that I’ve chosen to work on. I’m hoping to cram as many as I can into this month. I’m also hoping to post more reviews on my blog as I go.

For my physical books, I’ll be focusing on my my massive nightstand collection and thinning it down as much as I can.

The First Binding is massive and will take a chunk of my time. I hope to get to it soon. I’m also prioritizing Juniper and Thorn as I have an arc for that on Netgalley (oops!), a few others are on my stack and I shall have a bunch more added for my September tbr. I’m hoping to get back into reading and not be so busy this month!

And these are my other hopefuls! I really want to read Master of Sorrows and The Diamond Eye as I hope to get to more Kate Quinn. Her writing is excellent. I’m also behind on reading things like Priory of the Orange Tree, Gideon, and Cinderella is Dead.

I know I’m not getting to all these. Not hardly. My goal is to read at least 40 of them, but I rather doubt it. I’ve been ina bit of a slump. I hope to seriously avoid the slump and catch up with my Goodreads goal this month. How’s your tbr looking? Let me know in the comments if you’ve read any of these.

Until next time,

August 2022 TBR: Goals, Plans, and Hope To Beat the Reading Slump!

Hello Everyone,

I’m posting this early, I know, but I am crossing my fingers that next month is going to be a huge reading month for me! I have so many books that I have put off reading that I’m going to read these. I just have a few plans in place.

My Plans:

Basically read, lol. I’m going to try to read two books a day of I can, and hope life doesn’t get in the way again.

Limited computer + phone. Now, I do use ebooks on my phone so that’s an exception. And I’m posting from my phone to my blog so another exception. Otherwise, nope.

Read my tbr, STICK to my tbr. Often I’m a mood reader but I’m going to see if I can actually stick with a tbr and see if that helps!

My TBR:

All of these have been on my tbr at least once or twice, however Iron Widow + The Traitor Baru Cormorant are rereads in preparation for the the sequels as I plan on catch up on finishing series that I’ve started.

Now if I read all those and somehow stick with my planned tbr, here’s another set that I hope to get through!

These are high on my wishlist but I don’t think I’ll be able to get a few of them as some are brand new. I’m really hoping to make good headway into my reading for this coming month. Let me know what all your tbrs look like and if there’s any recs you want to share based on my tbr. I hope everyone has an enjoyable reading month ahead!

Until next time,

Updates On Reading: Well My Reading Challenge Went Terribly

Hello Everyone,

Wow my blogging and reading took a nosedive. After my last post I fell ill and was coughing, wheezing and had a low grade temp. I am still Covid free, thankfully, but I am also still coughing like no tomorrow. I’m attempting to read as I’m I’ll but it’s hard to focus when you’re coughing that hard! Let’s see. I think that I read a whopping 4 books. Yeesh. No, wait, 5 books. Kaikeyi was a reread. Here’s what I’ve read:

What I’ve Read:

My two favorite books were easily Kaikeyi and Alone Out Here which for those that don’t know is pitched as a Lord of the Flies but in space YA book. While the ending was a bit a cop out, I otherwise gave the book 5 stars as I did for Kaikeyi. Rise of the Mages was a dnf as I did NOT like the main guy character at all. He was in his twenties yet was constantly acting like a whiny bratty eight year old. Plus, the plot and world building didn’t seem new to me. Rafe was fine for writing and the characters were okay but I felt bored by most the book. Bright Ruined Things was also a dnf and just not for me at all.

Currently Reading:

I’m eager for these and I have here my stats:

Wake the Bones: 25%

Maker of Swans: 10%

What Souls Are Made Of: 30%

A Lady’s Guide to Fortune Hunting: 10%

The Darkening: 10%.

Next Reads:

Next up are a few ebooks. I might have a few physical books too, but I’m not sure what I’ll pick next. I’m just hoping to cram as much reading in as possible. Now that I’m mostly better from that bought of crap that came out of nowhere I’m trying to catch up. I’m in the middle of several books at once and I hope to get back to frequent updates. Feel free to suggest some books in the comments! I’d love to hear your thoughts on which books should be high on my priorities!

Until next time,

July TBR 2022: A Hefty Batch of New and Old Titles

Hello Everyone,

I’m feeling ambitious as usual but I figured out how to lock my computer so I can get off that and read more, mwahaha. As I don’t watch tv, I’m setting a challenge to read 50 books (again) and I’m determined to actually do it this time! Last time I managed exactly half. This time I’m aiming for a successful month to read all I can. Big or small, I’m eager to get through this hefty tbr! Let’s get to it shall we?

I know, I know. Many of you are probably screaming at me that I haven’t read any of these. I’ve put them off and put them off. Well no more! This isn’t the whole pile, fyi. I’ve a crapton of Kindle books I hope to get to also. And a few of these have been on my tbr again and again. I hope this is the last time, I really do.

My plan:

  • Three books a day unless it’s over 500+ pages
  • Write those reviews as soon as I finish reading
  • If I can’t stand the book, dnf at 100 pages
  • Read at least three hours a day (I’m a fast reader)
  • No computer, no tv until I finish a book, with exception of the news at nine pm as I catch the weather there.
  • If I successfully do this I earn an expensive $50 book of my choosing as a reward!

And that’s my goal for the month of July. It’s already July fifth and I’m currently reading Kaikeyi and loving it. It’s well over 500+ pages so it is a bit dense and taking me a bit to get through. Plus I had to pause for a family get together though we weren’t celebrating much in all honesty we were just talking about the future and enjoying good food. So. Fingers crossed that this works.

Are y’all reading anything this month that’s on my list? Let me know! I’d love to chat about it with you!

Until next time,

June Wrap Up: I Read 20 Books

Hello Everyone,

This is the lowest amount I’ve read all year I think, but to be fair I got rather busy. Only 20 books but that’s still not bad and I hope next month will double the number as I am at 130/350 for my Goodreads goal, yikes. Here’s what I’ve read for June!

I started out strong with my reading then kinda hit a slump and I barely read anything this month. 20 is a low number for me and these are some of the covers that I cobbled together for y’all.

The standout books for last month are Kaikeyi, Daughter of the Moon Goddess, Love and Saffron and Alone Out Here. I also enjoyed the first half of the German Bride, and Outrun the Moon. The rest were all mostly “meh”.

I’m trying to get back into the swing of blogging but it’s proving difficult in having the motivation as well as enough signal to actually post as I don’t have internet where I am due to expenses.

I also read a hefty classic this past month:

This book was a thousand pages long and took me almost two weeks to read. It was thick, a struggle to understand with the olde English and easily one of the hardest books I’ve ever read. I gave it 4 stars, as it dragged a bit in the middle but I loved the poetry.

But otherwise that’s basically all I read. I’m hoping my reading will pick up again in the next month.

Until next time,

April Mid-month Check In: 20 Books Read(!)

Hello Everyone,

As I’ve begun increasing my read tbr by the month I decided I needed to get to do mid month wrap ups. I’m trying hard to keep up my reading pace, but also not forcing myself into a slump by not wanting to read. Thanks to the holiday weekend, I’ve managed to read a bit more than usual and I’m surprisingly keeping the slump back by reading small things here and there. I’ve managed 20 books! And it’s only mid April! I’ve read a lot of really good books this month. A handful I want to buy they were that good! Let’s dive in shall we?

Look at me, reading huge 900+ page books! I’m going to hopefully manage to get another big batch of books before the end of the month. I couldn’t get images for every book I read, unfortunately. But I did get the biggest ones.

My favorite books of the month? You’ve Lost a Lot of Blood, These Silent Woods, and Traitors Blade.

My least favorite books? The Best of All Possible Worlds, Hunting Game, and The Circus Infinite.

Biggest Book Read? Shadowmarch by Tad Williams 900 pages

Smallest Book Read: You’ve Lost a Lot of Blood

April 2022 TBR: Allllllll the boooooooooooooks!!!!

Hello Everyone,

I’m in a reading mood! Finally I’ve been seriously crushing my tbr! So I thought I would have a massive tbr (as always 😆) and share with you just what all I want to read. I’ve embraced that I’m a heavy mood reader so really anything may be chosen for April. Here’s some of what I have to read:

These are all my library books; a couple are not library books but ones that I own!

My TBR Cart:

Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel

Silver on the Road by Laura Anne Gilman

The Heartbreak Bakery by AR Capetta

For the Wolf by Hannah Whitten

Light From Uncommon Stars by Ryka Aoki

The Bone Orchard by Sara A. Mueller

Spectacle by Jodie Lynn Zdrok

When We Were Birds by Ayanna Lloyd Banwo

I Must Betray You by Ruta Septys

The Starless Crown by James Rollins

The Red Palace by Jane Hur

A Thousand Steps Into Night by Traci Chee

The Family Chao by Lan Samantha Chang

History of Wild Places by Shea Ernshaw

The Best of All Possible Worlds by Karen Lord

As if that’s not enough, though some I can just fly right through, I’ve also got these!:

I adore historical romance, can you tell?

I’m not going to list titles for all the historical romances there, but some authors are my favorites including Kerrigan Bryne, Kinley McGregor, and Sabrina Jeffries. Others I haven’t yet read from but recognize their names. I’m eager to get to at least some of these! (And if you want to recommend me some of your favorites, just let me know in the comments who think I should read next!)

Of course I’m not done yet! Did you really think that was it? Lol, not quite!:

Look at all the fantasy!

So many of these I’ve put off for ages! I’m hoping to finally get to these as I’m in a reading mood at last! I really want to read more hefty fantasies this year, and April seems the perfect month for it!

And finally, I learned how to make a collection on my kindle! I made a collection of my tbr of all the books that I haven’t read. And um. Guys. 380 books. 😬:

Clearly I’m not going to show every book in my kindle. That just takes up too much space, but I’ll list a few of my top priorities:

The Dragon Republic by RF Kuang

Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse

From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson (possible re-read)

First Riders Call by Kristen Britain

His Majesty’s Dragon by Naomi Novak

I hope to get some serious reading done this month. In between all the things that I’m doing for my family, I’m sure that I’ll be able to squeeze some books in! How’s your April tbr going? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,

Secondary February 2022 TBR: Because Apparently I’m BACK INTO READING AT LAST!!!!

Hello Everyone,

The curse has been broken. The struggles are over. Finally, the sun shines and all is right with the world in that I’ve been reading. A lot. I posted my wrap up for the month of January where I said that I had read 20 books. Well. Correction. It’s currently the 31 of January so I have read 24 books. Finally! It helps that the weather is fixing to be shit (again, sigh) so that means more time indoors to read.

So I figured why not do another round of a tbr? There’s been books that I have been dying to read for ages but just haven’t gotten to! February is the shortest month but I don’t care. I’m in a reading mood. Finally! So here are the books that I’m eyeing to add that I’m much more interested.

I hope to grab some of these in kindle format as I have been reading on my kindle a fair bit lately. Also on my phone through the kindle app. I really want to get caught up on all of these that I’ve been missing out on. I hope to get at least a quarter of these read next month! What are your tbr goals? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,

My Bookshelf Tour: A Sneak Peak At My 2022 TBR

Hello everyone,

Today I thought I’d do a bookshelf tour of all the books that I have on my never ending tbr pile. I’m not the best photographer but I do hope that this is still an enjoyable post! I love seeing others shelves so feel free to share yours in the comments!

Up first, my tbr shelf. As I sadly don’t own an actual tbr cart (yet!) I’m doing a tbr shelf instead. Jade City is a buddy read and the rest are my priorities for the year. I’m hoping to get to all of them eventually. I just started Glory Season by David Brin too, and I hope to start City of Brass soon as well.

The other half of my immediate tbr shelf! I have read Red Rising but never finished the series and remember nothing of book one so I’m due for a reread. I also adore Sebastian de Castell and really want to finish that series this year.

My second shelf of priorities is a mixed bag of tricks! I’ve got fantasy and thrillers, scifi and ya. I really need to catch up with Red Sister by Mark Lawrence, and there’s lots of others I want to read too!

The other half of the above shelf. Need I say more? Actually that Ken Follet book is book three. Books one and two I don’t own yet. The other Sharon Shinn books of that series are in my room… somewhere.

All my big books I’m intimidated by! 😳

The other half of my scary shelf. Jade City is currently being read (finally!).

My assorted, disorganized new books. Mostly historical fiction, mysteries and thrillers.

There you guys go! That’s my current tbr piles. Not my whole library then this post will be much longer! Hopefully you spot something to add to your own tbrs! Let me know what you think about this post in the comments! Good bad needs work? Lol.

Until next time,

WWW Wednesday: How is it Wednesday again already?!?

Hello everyone,

Its time for another round of WWW Wednesday! I’ve only read three books this past week, but one was a classic. Here are the books that I finished reading!

What did I finish reading?

Silver in the Wood by Emily Tesh is a five star read. Romeo and Juliet was better than I remembered while sadly Psalm for the Wild Built wasn’t what I hoped it would be and I dnf’d it.

What am I currently reading?

These three are buddy reads! I’m at 120 pages of Jade City, I just started the Diviners and I have yet to start Bone Witch though that will change soon!

These are the books I’m currently working on. All of these apart from Glory Season and Battlemage are relatively short. I’m trying to really read a lot this week and get up to 50 books but not just reading short fiction. My plan is to read a bunch of short things with a couple big things in between and it seems to be working in getting rid of my slumps at last!

What am I reading next?

A lot of backlog titles I’m trying to get to. I really hope to read The Last Cuentista and The Stars Are Legion most of all.

What are all of you reading? Anything good? Let me know in the comments. I’m hoping to seriously thin down my tbr this year. I’m very tired of the backlog just glaring at me. Time to actually get some reading done this year!

Until next time,
