Day 1 of 7: Week Long Reading 24/7 Challenge

Hello Everyone,

It is currently 8:28 am and I’m up, I’m dressed, and making myself a cup of tea. I’ve handled a few needed things (feed cats, get bkfast), and I have a few books that I’m going to start reading. I’m not documenting this beyond checking in via posting. Anyway, here’s what I hope to read today:

I posted about this yesterday and I’m very excited to dive into this intriguing and beautiful book!

This is an old historical romance that I’ve had forever and a day. Mass market paperbacks usually go quick for me so this should be a breeze.

And a brand new release. I have this out from the library so I definitely need to read it!

And that’s what I hope to read today. Later tonight I’ll check in at ten and showcase what all I read. I’m hoping to get more than three books done but we’ll see.

Until next time,

September TBR 2022: A Month of Reading All the Things!

Hello Everyone,

This month is the month of strict reading! No computer except for reviewing only! No tv. I’m behind on my Goodreads goal by 60 books. I’m hoping to seriously catch up. I have read one short ebook this far (five stars!) and hope to get more reading on tonight. Here’s my excessive tbr that I hope to stick with:

These are my kindle books that I’ve chosen to work on. I’m hoping to cram as many as I can into this month. I’m also hoping to post more reviews on my blog as I go.

For my physical books, I’ll be focusing on my my massive nightstand collection and thinning it down as much as I can.

The First Binding is massive and will take a chunk of my time. I hope to get to it soon. I’m also prioritizing Juniper and Thorn as I have an arc for that on Netgalley (oops!), a few others are on my stack and I shall have a bunch more added for my September tbr. I’m hoping to get back into reading and not be so busy this month!

And these are my other hopefuls! I really want to read Master of Sorrows and The Diamond Eye as I hope to get to more Kate Quinn. Her writing is excellent. I’m also behind on reading things like Priory of the Orange Tree, Gideon, and Cinderella is Dead.

I know I’m not getting to all these. Not hardly. My goal is to read at least 40 of them, but I rather doubt it. I’ve been ina bit of a slump. I hope to seriously avoid the slump and catch up with my Goodreads goal this month. How’s your tbr looking? Let me know in the comments if you’ve read any of these.

Until next time,

Currently Reading Updates: Been a Bit Since I Posted!

Hello Everyone,

I know, I know. I dropped off the face of the earth, but I’m currently on my way to NYC!!! 🥰 An early birthday present to me! But as I’m traveling I’m also reading. Here’s what I’ve read recently and what I’m currently reading:

What I’ve Read:

I’ve been reading a lot of smut and romance because it’s easy and quick. However I also finally read a Kate Quinn piece and gave it 5 ⭐. It was so good!!! I read Goliath by Tochi Onyebuchi and gave it 5 ⭐ too. There’s a few that I haven’t shared. It’s just a lot of things to add.

Currently Reading:

First let’s get the romances out of the way…

Rescuing Rayne by Susan Stoker

Three Weeks to Wed by Ella Quinn

Tempt Me With Diamonds by Jane Feather

Secrets of a Summer Night by Lisa Kleypas

Now for the fantasy books:

I’m rereading Way of Kings to prep for book two. I’m enjoying it again and I am only 200 pages in.

Other books I’m reading:

And I hope to finish these by the end of the trip. I doubt that I’m going to finish Way of Kings, but the others are mostly romances so I should fly right through them. After these are done, I’m going to start earnestly making a dent in my tbr of books that I’ve put off reading. But until then…

Until next time,

August 2022 TBR: Goals, Plans, and Hope To Beat the Reading Slump!

Hello Everyone,

I’m posting this early, I know, but I am crossing my fingers that next month is going to be a huge reading month for me! I have so many books that I have put off reading that I’m going to read these. I just have a few plans in place.

My Plans:

Basically read, lol. I’m going to try to read two books a day of I can, and hope life doesn’t get in the way again.

Limited computer + phone. Now, I do use ebooks on my phone so that’s an exception. And I’m posting from my phone to my blog so another exception. Otherwise, nope.

Read my tbr, STICK to my tbr. Often I’m a mood reader but I’m going to see if I can actually stick with a tbr and see if that helps!

My TBR:

All of these have been on my tbr at least once or twice, however Iron Widow + The Traitor Baru Cormorant are rereads in preparation for the the sequels as I plan on catch up on finishing series that I’ve started.

Now if I read all those and somehow stick with my planned tbr, here’s another set that I hope to get through!

These are high on my wishlist but I don’t think I’ll be able to get a few of them as some are brand new. I’m really hoping to make good headway into my reading for this coming month. Let me know what all your tbrs look like and if there’s any recs you want to share based on my tbr. I hope everyone has an enjoyable reading month ahead!

Until next time,

July TBR 2022: A Hefty Batch of New and Old Titles

Hello Everyone,

I’m feeling ambitious as usual but I figured out how to lock my computer so I can get off that and read more, mwahaha. As I don’t watch tv, I’m setting a challenge to read 50 books (again) and I’m determined to actually do it this time! Last time I managed exactly half. This time I’m aiming for a successful month to read all I can. Big or small, I’m eager to get through this hefty tbr! Let’s get to it shall we?

I know, I know. Many of you are probably screaming at me that I haven’t read any of these. I’ve put them off and put them off. Well no more! This isn’t the whole pile, fyi. I’ve a crapton of Kindle books I hope to get to also. And a few of these have been on my tbr again and again. I hope this is the last time, I really do.

My plan:

  • Three books a day unless it’s over 500+ pages
  • Write those reviews as soon as I finish reading
  • If I can’t stand the book, dnf at 100 pages
  • Read at least three hours a day (I’m a fast reader)
  • No computer, no tv until I finish a book, with exception of the news at nine pm as I catch the weather there.
  • If I successfully do this I earn an expensive $50 book of my choosing as a reward!

And that’s my goal for the month of July. It’s already July fifth and I’m currently reading Kaikeyi and loving it. It’s well over 500+ pages so it is a bit dense and taking me a bit to get through. Plus I had to pause for a family get together though we weren’t celebrating much in all honesty we were just talking about the future and enjoying good food. So. Fingers crossed that this works.

Are y’all reading anything this month that’s on my list? Let me know! I’d love to chat about it with you!

Until next time,

April 2022 TBR: Allllllll the boooooooooooooks!!!!

Hello Everyone,

I’m in a reading mood! Finally I’ve been seriously crushing my tbr! So I thought I would have a massive tbr (as always 😆) and share with you just what all I want to read. I’ve embraced that I’m a heavy mood reader so really anything may be chosen for April. Here’s some of what I have to read:

These are all my library books; a couple are not library books but ones that I own!

My TBR Cart:

Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel

Silver on the Road by Laura Anne Gilman

The Heartbreak Bakery by AR Capetta

For the Wolf by Hannah Whitten

Light From Uncommon Stars by Ryka Aoki

The Bone Orchard by Sara A. Mueller

Spectacle by Jodie Lynn Zdrok

When We Were Birds by Ayanna Lloyd Banwo

I Must Betray You by Ruta Septys

The Starless Crown by James Rollins

The Red Palace by Jane Hur

A Thousand Steps Into Night by Traci Chee

The Family Chao by Lan Samantha Chang

History of Wild Places by Shea Ernshaw

The Best of All Possible Worlds by Karen Lord

As if that’s not enough, though some I can just fly right through, I’ve also got these!:

I adore historical romance, can you tell?

I’m not going to list titles for all the historical romances there, but some authors are my favorites including Kerrigan Bryne, Kinley McGregor, and Sabrina Jeffries. Others I haven’t yet read from but recognize their names. I’m eager to get to at least some of these! (And if you want to recommend me some of your favorites, just let me know in the comments who think I should read next!)

Of course I’m not done yet! Did you really think that was it? Lol, not quite!:

Look at all the fantasy!

So many of these I’ve put off for ages! I’m hoping to finally get to these as I’m in a reading mood at last! I really want to read more hefty fantasies this year, and April seems the perfect month for it!

And finally, I learned how to make a collection on my kindle! I made a collection of my tbr of all the books that I haven’t read. And um. Guys. 380 books. 😬:

Clearly I’m not going to show every book in my kindle. That just takes up too much space, but I’ll list a few of my top priorities:

The Dragon Republic by RF Kuang

Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse

From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson (possible re-read)

First Riders Call by Kristen Britain

His Majesty’s Dragon by Naomi Novak

I hope to get some serious reading done this month. In between all the things that I’m doing for my family, I’m sure that I’ll be able to squeeze some books in! How’s your April tbr going? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,

March 2022 TBR: Can I Read 50 Books In A Month?

Hello Everyone,

So I’ve got a big goal for March. I’m already behind on my Goodreads tbr goal. Not badly, maybe 15 books behind schedule. But this month? I’m issuing a challenge to myself to read 50 books. What books might those be? Well, the last tbr is still on my “must reads” but I have other new ones added. Sit back, relax, and prepare for scrolling through my stack of books!

Such an ambitious pile, as always but I think that this is my biggest yet! (I could be wrong lol.) I’m definitely looking forward to The Poppy War, Vita Nostra, Light From Uncommon Stars, and Brandon Sanderson Way of Kings. Many of these look so good! Tell me which ones you think I should prioritize because I could definitely use the help! 😆

I hope everyone else has a great month in March. Stay safe out there everyone!

Until next time,

February 2022 Wrap Up: I Read 22 Books!

Hello Everyone,

I’m starting by saying that I’m clearly not showing every book that I’ve read this month, 22 books is a lot! I read way more than I thought but not everything from my original tbrs-as usual. I did get some translated works squeezed in, a few black authors and a few lgbt books too. My favorite of the month is The Border Keeper and I have the sequel that I hope to read in March. Least favorite book? Probably Informed Risk. It wasn’t awful I was just bored by it. Good writing, flat story.

Next month I’m aiming for 50 books. Ambitious number but I’m determined to beat this reading slump that I’m leaning towards. I hope everyone else has had a successful reading month too.

Until next time,

WWW Wednesday: What’s New, What’s Old, What’s Read

Hello Everyone,

I skipped last week’s www because I hadn’t read but one book and I was in a hefty slump. Cue after that me picking up all the books and reading a lot over last week and actually posting reviews too! I know, right, who am I? Anyway. Let’s dive in shall we?

What did I finish reading?

I read so many good things last week! It’s nice to actually see more than just one or two finished books! My top favorites are The Border Keeper and Across the Green Grass Fields. My least favorite and perhaps biggest disappoinment tied between Moon of the Crusted Snow and Avalon. I was most surprised by Kanada which had me sobbing my eyes out but it was so beautifully written! The Cat and the Monk is an award winner and has such a lovely artwork and story in it. Overall a successful reading week!

What am I currently reading?:

I have all these as my physical books, and I am finally starting Children of Time which is easily 600+ pages. Hopefully it’ll be a fast read! I also have these on my kindle that I’m fixing to read too:

A buddy read, a couple arcs and a library loan on my kindle. I’m hoping to get through these as well as the others this next week too.

What will I be reading next?

These are my potential next reads. Nothing firm, just a few ideas that I have in mind for upcoming reviews. I’ve wanted to read Vita Nostra for forever and a day. Same for the others here. I hope everyone else is having a good reading week!

Until next time,

February 2022 TBR: Banned Books, Translated Works, and Women Authors to Read

Hello Everyone,

I hope that your reading month was well last month. Mine wasn’t bad, I managed 19 books but still slumped by the end. February I hope to change that, though to be fair last month at the end got busy in cleaning house. House now looks much nicer so yay for that. Let’s cross our fingers that February will be a kinder reading month.

Focusing on these subjects for February I noticed lots of books being banned so why not go ahead and read them? I’m all for reading banned books and there’s certainly lots of options!

I also want to start reading more translated works, or works by foreign authors. I find some of those books fascinating and unique and I really want to support more authors in the book community.

Finally we have women authors. Most of my tbr will contain women authors. I am a woman so I therefore feel that I should support my own gender but more than that women ought to be heard. I hope to get through a lot of amazing books by women this month.

Let’s get to the tbr shall we?

Banned Books On My TBR:

I haven’t read a single one of these, though I have read Laurie Halse Anderson before. I’m really hoping to get to these I just need to wait for my library holds to get in.

Translated Works:

I doubt that I’ll get to all of these and these are potential books for my tbr for next month. The ones that are highest on my list are the Vegetarian, Vita Nostra and Mouthful of Birds.

Women Authors:

I threw in a handful of romances as I really want to read romance for the upcoming Valentine’s day holiday. After all that’s the tradition isn’t it? I’m hoping to be doubling my goal from 19 books last month to 38 but that’s highly unlikely lol. What’s on your tbrs? Let me know if I need to add in anything more.

Until next time,

-Pass Me That Book
