I’ve been gone most of this month and for that I apologize. I still somehow managed to get followers though so welcome new people! I hope you all enjoy my content and any suggestions you have that you’d like to see on my blog, please comment down below and I’ll see what I can do.
I left briefly because of all the things: heat wave in Missouri is awful, Roe Vs Wade being overturned, I was ill briefly (just a minor bug I still thankfully don’t have Covid), and stress. So. Much. Stress.
So I took a brief break, gathered a few new reviews that I hope to post soon, a few discussion posts, and some random other things too including my monthly wrap up and next month tbr!
I’m going to try to start posting once a day. I may post more than once sometimes but I am easing back into my regular posting schedule. I hope everyone is doing okay and that they’ve had a successful reading month.
So I’ve been scrounging for content ideas and decided to figure a few things out for myself. This post is mostly for me, but I am still sharing as a reminder for later.
What is my blog about?Reviews, books, promoting the authors and publishers I love
How often will I be posting? After my hiatus I’m attempting to post at least once a day if I can. Or once every other day if I’m busy.
Blogging Plans? I would love to start blog hopping on others blogs but I have no idea how. I’d like to grow traffic on my blog but not through adding ads or making pop ups. I’d love to grow more original content too.
How long have I been blogging? My history shows that I’ve been blogging for 6+years now. I’ve learned a lot and I’m hoping to steadily grow more in terms of the things I’ll learn.
Biggest Blogging Goals? Transfer all my tbr books onto my blog from Goodreads, Amazon Wishlist, and other places like it. Also interview my favorite authors such as Stephen King, Jim Butcher, and Margaret Atwood as well as others. Make my blog stand out and be a safe place for those that have triggers in books and support LGBT+. Strive to promote indie titles more than mainstream titles.
Biggest Blogging Problems? WordPress is a bit frustrating sometimes. Also I have limited funds to support the author’s I’d like to buy books of, and I also blog from my phone these days so connectivity to internet can be a challenge.
Future upcoming posts-what can you look forward to? Blog hopping maybe. Interviews with authors. More frequent book reviews would be nice as this is meant to be a place to actually review books.
Blogging pet peeves? When researching people insist on using Pinterest to promote your blog, or having a gorgeous Instagram account, or a popular YouTube channel. No thank you. I should be able to blog and grow without all that or constantly doing follow for follow. I’m not about the popularity contest in terms of blogging. I just want to do my own thing with helpful hints and guides for the blogger not the rest of it too.
How long do you intend to blog for? Will you quit?I don’t think I’d quit but a future hiatus might happen again in a few years. I missed blogging and I doubt that I will ever stop unless something happens health wise. It’s a fun hobby for me as I’m sure it is for others too!
What do you do when you aren’t blogging?Read, hopefully. Sketching. Handling up on Real Life. Working on writing and publishing my own books. Browse Twitter, YouTube, and so forth. Enjoy myself, and try not to be too stressed out or anxious. But mostly I read and have fun.
And that’s all there is, folks. I hope to eventually get back into reviewing soon, as mentioned. If you have more questions feel free to ask in the comments. Glad to see you drop by and would love to hear your thoughts on all this.
I took apparently two/three months from the blog due to real life butting in as usual. For a while I read but the only place I reviewed was Goodreads. I’m hoping to post more frequently soon, as I catch up on the backlog of review titles, library book reviews and so on.
Thanks for all the new followers popping up, I am nearing 300! ❤️
Pass Me That Book is no more. After five years, I felt it time for a change. Totally Honest Reviews is a name born out of the fact that I try being honest in my opinions, as well as everything else. Kindness is our motto, but promoting how I feel about a book-whether good or bad-is where the new name comes in. If you don’t like it, too bad, I say.
There will be further changes. I’m aiming for these to be changed:
-website name change from passmethatbook.com to totallyhonestreviews.com
-being more open about accepting reviews
-going through all my unorganized posts, and labeling them appropriately
-to be determined
I stated in an earlier post how I would like to see more changes on my website. How I’d like to be more on time and get a lot more content in. Prepare for that to come true. Suggestions welcomed in what all I should post as new content, and what you would like to see changed. Also let me know if any links don’t work.
Thank you, all for your support, and until next time!
It’s been a few months since I’ve been bloggin’, I know. I had some close to me deaths. Grandfather passed from cancer. It was rough. Then a few months later, a close friend of the family also passed. Again from cancer but a different kind. We knew it was coming, but that doesn’t make it any easier for both of those people we cared about.
So I apologize for my absence. I got a lot of catching up to do. Shit’s changed, and I’m WAY behind on reviews to the point I don’t think I will ever catch up. Sure, I still posted vaguely to twitter and Goodreads, but otherwise?
All was quiet on the western front.
It’s been rough, but I’m eager to get back to it. New year, new look, new style. I’m trying to learn more HTML. By the way?
This blog is run by ONE PERSON. Not many all at once. I do all the html editing, I write the reviews, I read the books, I do the emails…a lot of work, pride, and joy goes into this blog. I spent years working on it. Sure, I might go quiet now and again, but that’s because real life sucks. It’s why I escape into books to begin with.
So I apologize for my long absence, friends. I appreciate all those who stuck with me, through and thin. I was gone almost half a year from my blog, longer than what I’d done previously. I will make up for it.
And for all those politics going on? This blog is meant as a safe haven away from that sort of thing. Reading is an escape. It’s entertainment. Its fun and rewarding. Please keep your political thoughts and feelings off this blog. That’s all I ask. Thanks.
Brief update. My internet went away and therefore so did I. I’ve read a few arcs, but haven’t been on here much less written a review in ages. I’ll be uploading a fair amount later in the next couple of days.
-monthly wrap ups
-new updates on my review pages
Overall I will be quite busy. Apologies for the unexpected hiatus but I have returned and plan to once I update regularly!
Well, Arc Apocalypse was a complete and utter failure. Have I read any arcs? No. But that doesn’t mean that I hadn’t gotten lots of reading done. I did reading for a few different readathons, as well as The Reading Rush which literally just started. Here are the upcoming posts that I hope to have before the end of the month:
The Reading Rush Conclusion
Monthly Wrap Ups (I’m behind)
Monthly TBR for August
Several Book Reviews Behind That I’m Behind Schedule
Another Arc Update
I apologize for the unexpected hiatus; I haven’t been able to get online, despite the amount that I’ve read. I’ m hoping to return to regular scheduled posts before too long, and continue where I left off.
I’ve also made some site improvements. New banner, new background, and updated my “currently reading” post on the side. There are a few more things I’d like to update on the blog eventually, such as my TBR pile, along with other things that I’ve been putting off.
Hope everyone is staying safe and reading plenty of good books.
Merry Christmas to all. I hope everyone is having a delightful holiday. If you’re one who doesn’t celebrate the holidays, then I hope you’re day is going well. I’ve updated my blog, so that it’s easier to read and navigate. I’ll be making more changing, as I figure out what I want my blog to look like, apart from neat, clean and organized.
Next year Goals:
*Read 500 books
*Post more reviews
*Knock down that TBR cart from 8000 to 5000
*Clean out my shelves
*Learn more complicated HTML
And that’s all that I have so far. I’m hoping to get more productive next year in reading as well, and not have a huge reading slump again. The writing bug bit me hard towards the last half of 2019. I’m hoping it won’t be that way for next year. I might have to hide my computer, in order to read more than write, lol.
