Notes: Perfect read for Halloween!

Horror’s not generally my thing, but for Halloween I try to make exceptions. This was surprisingly not bad at all. While it was certainly dark and spooky, it didn’t make me cringe or want to toss the book through the window. A bonus, in my experience. While I wish I liked horror stories more than I do, I’m still not enthused about it, though I do try. So with that in mind, please be aware that the rating could be higher for someone else that’s a lot more enthused about horror in general!

This was a good experience for me, reading outside of my comfort zone. The author is definitely talented at drawing a person into a story, showing rather than telling what’s all going on. I liked the build up and anticipation, the mystery of it all, and the horror wasn’t too gruesome or disturbing for me. If that’s a negative in your book (I know some who would be utterly disappointed if they weren’t freaked out several times during a horror book) then apologies, but for me, it made it more bearable.

I think I may check out more of the author’s books, should I be in the mood for more of this genre, and I am pleased to have read this even if it brought me out of my comfort zone. So thank you to the author, and for those who wish to buy it, here’s the amazon link to it as well.

I’m giving this a 3.5/5 stars, rounding up to a low 4. I hope to be able to read more horror later, but for now I think I’ll stick with my preferred genre, which is-as most of my followers probably know-fantasy. Thank you to the author for providing me with an arc of your book, and I hope you enjoyed reading this review! Happy Halloween to all!

Until next time,
