The second release of the Billie Dixon novels picks up a few months after the first book left off, with Billie still struggling to fit into life as she sees it. There’s loads of angst, heavy emotional upheavels, and painful life lessons learned throughout this book. I really enjoyed it, though it was a bit heavy for me at times, I’ll admit. And while I liked this one, I still liked book one better, for some reason.

I can still totally see this book series as a movie series. It’s good writing, the storyline clips along at a fast pace, and there’s loads of character development as well-that’s one of the major things that I like about this book, actually, is it’s character developments. We actually see how they fare with their problems, and consequences of their actions along the way.

I also like that it takes place near home; I recognize almost every place listed within the book. It’s cool, seeing places I know in fiction that I love to read about.

I will note that this book also deals heavily with alcoholism, so if you have issues in regards to alcholic mothers/family members, then I would be careful in reading this due to triggers. I have a slight family history, but no one I know is a super heavy drinker like in the book, so, yeah. It’s interesting and unsettling at times.

I still like Billie’s character best out of all of them, though Xander has grown on me as well. I’m not sure how I’ll feel about them by the third book, but I definitely still want to continue reading their story, and see how it flows, and if it will have a happy ending.

As it is, I’m giving this book 4/5 stars, and am eagerly anticipating book three.

Until next time,
