Jim Butcher continues to remain a high favorite of mine in regards to fantasy. I have always loved the Dresden Files verse, and this new anthology is just as good as the series itself. While I skipped a couple of the last stories (spoilers because I haven’t read that far into the series yet), I am happy to report giving this book 5/5 stars for it’s awesome story-building, characters, and plot. Several familiar faces popped up other than Harry Dresdens, as well as new faces that I quickly grew to love. I think my favorites out of the anthology was probably the “I Was a Teenage Werewolf” stories, as they were fun, family-friendly, and fast-paced.
It also reminded me that this is yet another series that I’ve not yet finished. I’m currently lingering over book six? Book seven? And clearly I need to do a re-read, because the last thing that I recall happening in the Dresden Files books clearly was Dresden saving a bunch of puppies from a fire that he didn’t start or was the cause of. (Of course, I think we all know better.)
Brief Cases was one of my most anticipated reads because of the author, not the cover, and because it’s Dresden. While I’m sadly the only one in my family who reads the Dresden Files series, I will swear that it is absolutely worth the time to invest in. It’s fun, it’s full of all kinds of supernatural creatures, and it’s a great way to learn about new kinds of magic.
I definitely look forward to continuing the series, and this just made me wish to continue it further. I’m hopefully going to get more of the series checked out, and am still trying to buy all of it too. I currently have the first four books of the series, as well as book eight sitting on my shelves. So you can definitely see that I am an investor into this world.
As it stands, I give this a 5/5 stars for being its usual awesome fun read!
Until next time,

Saving the puppies was book 5…so you’re only 10 books and a few heartbreaks behind…

Yikes! Didn’t think I had that much catching up to do! And poor Dresden, last thing he needs is even more heartbreak!
